I’m now looking to offload my custom .308 bolt action rifle to reallocate my scarce resources into the Police Accountability Tour. The system is top-tier, accurate at a very long distance in the right hands.

Review the info below and if you’re interested, make me an offer: pete@copblock.org

I’m open to a lump payment, or a chunk up-front and lesser monthly contributions, whether that be in FRNs, silver or Bitcoin.

I’m in the Keene, NH area. If you’re not in the area I’m down to ship the rifle from an FFL on this end to an FFL on that end.

I’m hitting the road on Aug 13th, 2013 so if a consensual interaction is to be made, I hope to have it completed before that date.

If I get the same question from more than a couple of folks I’ll post the question and my response here, as it’s likely that others are wondering as well.

BACKGROUND

In 2008 Mike Meador of the West Virginia-based EFI LLC made a special rifle to commemorate the DC v. Heller decision, which found that the second amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms,a nd that a complete ban on handguns is unconstitutional.

I knew Dick Heller through the Mid-Atlantic Free State Project group, which met monthly in/around DC when I was in the area, and after learning of Meador’s efforts, got in touch with him.

I wanted to put some of my coin earned into an asset that had both utility and would gain or at least maintain value, so ordered through Meador a Precision Strike Rifle, based on the Remington 700, which is guaranteed to have at least a half minute of angle accuracy (MOA).

I took possession of the in late 2011 (EFI currently lists on its site backorders of 12-18-months for custom rifles). My intention was to buddy-up with someone who possessed long distance rifle shooting knowledge to learn such skills correctly. However, due to my travels, the difficulty in finding a long distance range, and the prohibitive cost of ammunition, the rifle has remained cased with one exception*.

In addition to being based on the Remington 700, the rifle has a viper action, McMilan stock, Leupold Mk4 LR/T TMR M3 3.5-10 x 40 front focal optics, a heavy floating barrel, and Badger Ordinance scope rings.

Here’s the price estimate I received from Mike Meador prior to paying in-full for the rifle. Note that the items highlighted in red were not ordered and that the bipod hasn’t yet been received [as of 2013.07.30] but is supposed to be on the way. Everything in green is included.

I tried offloading the rifle last month when at PorcFest and posted a recap the following week PorcFest X Facilitated Exchange of Ideas & Real Connections, which included this text:

For a sizable chunk of PorcFest I was anchored, along with my bud Silver Dave, to a table for our Liberty Tool Raffle. Credit for the phrase “Liberty Tool” goes to Danny Riley, who referred to firearms using that lexicon in a letter he sent me from his Terre Haute cage.

We had hoped to sell 1,000 raffle tickets but as we only moved 700 the raffle converted to a cash raffle, and winners received a percentage of the coin raised (at 50%, 20% and 10% levels). Despite the fact that our minimum wasn’t met, I was still happy with the outcome – all those who did receive winnings (Paige Peterson, Drew Phillips, and the Hempzels owner) are good people. Special thanks to Ademo and Liz Reitzig for helping to make those present aware of the raffle.

* I went with Jim Cemorelis to the Cheshire County Rod and Gun Club in early July, 2013 and together we put a about 25 rounds downrange. Those rounds, plus the five Meador shot after building the gun, are the only to have passed through the system.
